AUTISM SERIES

Since 1990 the number of children diagnosed with autism has been increasing at an alarming rate. It is estimated that one in every one hundred and seventy five children is diagnosed with autism and that the total number of children diagnosed is increasing by 20% every year. That means as time goes on we will all know, work, or interact with someone afflicted with autism. The spectrum of affliction is very wide, from people who are severely affected to those without a visible trace of it. With such a wide spectrum chances are you may have known an autistic person for years and not even been aware of it.

I have two goals with this project. The first is to raise public awareness of autism through its exhibition in areas with high pedestrian traffic; high rise lobbies, shopping malls, hospitals, public media outlets, galleries, etc. The second goal is to use the project to raise funds for research, treatment, and assistance programs.
